Bobst launches a portfolio of all-online digital presses

Taking advantage of its flexo experience and recent innovative inkjet developments, Bobst enriches its All-in-One, All-Inline range with the new Digital Master series. According to the company, the Digital Master 340 and Digital Master 510 will change the way label production is set up. The equipment provides a fully digitized and automated production line, from printing to embellishment and cutting. The Digital Master Series is based on a fully modular and scalable architecture, allowing customers to build their own press and grow it over time.

“Developments in label production keep pace with brand owners looking for converters who can deliver faster, better and at more competitive prices. In this context, the Bobst All-in-One platform is a great answer because digitally printed labels can be produced in high quality, with exceptional productivity and at lower cost, from short to long runs,” says Patrick Graber, Strategic Marketing Manager, Bobst.

“With the Digital Master Series, we want to solve our customers’ challenges as they try to overcome the lack of skilled labor while moving to industrial productivity and longer lifespans with digital equipment. ; and bring more agility and flexibility to the production floor. »

The Digital Master Series will be available in 340mm (13.5 inch) and 510mm (20 inch) print widths in a new design optimized for full modularity and improved operation and maintenance. Like the Master DM5, it offers printing, embellishing and cutting in a single pass, with seamless native integration between the digital UV inkjet engine and the flexo and conversion modules. The introduction of a 510mm version provides new opportunities to extend application versatility to larger labels, industrial and chemical markets, envelopes, shrink sleeves and other specialty applications. The Digital Master 510 provides higher production volume but still only needs one operator to operate the press.

Running up to 100m/min (328 fpm) in four or six colors plus optional digital white, the Digital Master series aims to bridge the gap between traditional digital and flexo machines. The range is synonymous with flexibility, speed of execution and end-to-end inline label production, with exceptional quality and productivity in increasing run lengths. The modular architecture allows customers to configure exactly the machine they need – from a digital only version to a highly customized configuration – incorporating all the modules available in inline flexo. It also offers the possibility of being upgraded on site later.

“The Digital Master Series is a highly scalable solution as customers can adapt the machine over time to changing application needs and new market trends,” adds Graber. “And when new technologies for these platforms are released, they can be retrofitted onsite, adding even more value and protecting the investment.”

Flexo modules can be included for priming demanding substrates, high ink coverage jobs for long runs to save digital ink, high white coverage applications or for color printing Pantone. Embellishment features available include varnishing, tactile and holographic effects, cold glue application, UV lamination and security printing. For end-to-end label production, fully automated semi-rotary die-cutting or rotary die-cutting are ready to be integrated.

Every print, embellishment and finishing module is digitally automated for exceptionally high uptime, low waste and exceptional repeatability, regardless of operator skill. Quality control is guaranteed by the inclusion of Bobst Accucheck for 100% in-line inspection at full speed. This proven technology verifies the registration, quality and color consistency of digital and flexo printing and all embellishments to ensure flawless production.

Bobst’s maintenance automation device on the digital printing unit is also included on all machines for the highest productivity and quality requirements, while the 1000 mm (39 in.) jumbo unwinders and rewinders ) with automated roll lift system reduce the number of roll changes, saving time and effort. . A single user-friendly interface controls the entire machine, which can be connected to the cloud and is open to MIS integration.

Like all presses in the oneLABEL range, the new presses in the Digital Master series are developed, manufactured, installed and serviced by BOBST. “The Digital Master series is based on the principle of ONE: ONE press for all labeling work, ONE workflow unifying all elements, ONE operator managing the press, ONE supplier developing all technologies and ONE point of service for conventional and digital parts. concludes Graber.
