Google rolls out Chrome Web Store badges to make it easier to find extensions

Google made it easier to find the best Chrome extensions when the tech company rolled out new store badges.

Google announced in a blog post on Wednesday that it had released two new expansion badges, the Featured Badge and the Established Publisher Badge, to help them achieve their goal of being “more powerful, useful, and customizable for the users”.

The tech company said its mission has always been to make it easy for users to find great extensions while recognizing the publishers who create them.

Both badges have been available on the Chrome Web Store since Wednesday.

Featured and established publisher badges highlight a high-quality extension

Before receiving the badge, members of the Chrome team manually rate each extension. The Featured badge is awarded to extensions that follow Google’s technical best practices and meet the company’s highest standards for user experience and design.

Members of the Chrome team ensure “adherence to Chrome Web Store best practices, including providing an enjoyable and intuitive experience, using the latest platform APIs, and respecting end-user privacy.”

“A clear and useful product sheet page for users, with quality images and a detailed description”, is also ensured according to the blog of Google.

The Established Publisher badge is awarded to publishers who have verified their identity and demonstrated compliance with the Developer Program policies.

Google specified in their blog post that publishers cannot pay Google for either badge, but they can submit a request for review.

Chrome extensions add functionality to the Chrome browser

A chrome extension is a way to add functionality to the chrome browser, according to A user can add interface elements, open and close tabs, interact with the address bar, as well as modify the content of any page the browser is currently on.

Extensions, which are small pieces of software, personalize the browsing experience. They are based on web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS, which allow users to tailor the functionality and behavior of Chrome to individual needs or preferences.

A custom extension can perform only one task. For this to work well, the task must be tightly defined and easy to understand. As long as everything directs the extension towards a single purpose, a user can include multiple components or features.

According to Google, they have worked hard to create extensions that make Chrome more powerful, useful, and customizable for users.

Google developed the cross-platform web browser, Google Chrome. In 2008 it was first released for Microsoft Windows, built with free software components from Apple WebKit and Mozilla Firefox.

Later it was ported to Linux, macOS, iOS and Android where it is the default browser. Google Chrome is also the main component of Chrome OS, where it serves as a platform for web applications.

Google, on the other hand, is a multinational technology company that focuses on artificial intelligence. He also focused on search engines, online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing, e-commerce and consumer electronics.

Google is considered one of America’s Big Five information technology companies, alongside Amazon, Apple, Meta and Microsoft.
